Bust in biscuit porcelain representing Marie-Adélaïde de Savoie after the marble by Antoine Coysevox (1640-1720) created in 1710 and kept at the Château de Versailles.
Marie-Adélaïde de Savoie (1685-1711) was a princess of the House of Savoy, Duchess of Burgundy, Dauphine of France and mother of the future King Louis XV. This bust, created in 1710, a year before the death of the Duchess of Burgundy, represents her in all her majesty. She wears a high curly wig and a gown adorned with a collar, covered with a fur-lined coat adorned with fleurs-de-lis, the symbol of royalty. The central jewel features a profile portrait of Louis XIV. The face, with its fine, regular features and piercing gaze, expresses the Duchesse's assertive character. This bust testifies to the artist's technical virtuosity and attention to detail, notably in the rendering of the fur, the finesse of the hairstyle and the preciousness of the jewelry. Signed "Carlier" on the back. Apocryphal Sèvres mark with letter-date D (1755-1756).
