Very large and majestic double-sided Empire-style desk dating from 1875, in mahogany and mahogany veneer. It is composed of two pedestals opening with six drawers and a central top opening with three drawers on the front. The desk is beautifully decorated with gilded bronzes depicting Egyptian busts, lion paws, winged Victories, lyres, puttis and foliage motifs (palmettes, crowns, rosettes), symmetrically arranged on all four sides of the desk. The top of the desk is embellished with empire green leather. This "Retour d'Egypte" style desk is a remarkable example of the Empire style, and would add a great deal of cachet and originality to any interior. It will go perfectly with our Bookcase or our Green Leather Desk Armchair.
